Take 10 with Dana featuring Jean Holloway
I'm Dana of Nia Promotions and I’m nosey. (smile) I find my love for books leading to a growing fascination with authors. In an effort to learn more about the women or men behind our favorite books, I decided to draft these 11 personal, and quirky, questions.

Today’s feature is Jean Holloway.

Dana (D): Please introduce yourself.

Jean Holloway (JH): I'm Jean Holloway, author of the Deck of Cardz series: Ace of Hearts, Black Jack, Deuces Wild and Full House. The last two are in the making.

What keeps you motivated to write?

First, I love being able to create my own world and discovered I love writing more than reading! My new found fans help encourage me to continue.

If I had to do it (i.e., write your book, your writing career, etc.) all over again, I would…

Have self-published in the late 80s, but that option wasn't as common then. I missed out on a lot of good years. And I should have continued writing all those years, even if it was just for me and my family.

What is one of your quirky isms?
Guess that would be my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I edit while writing, then re-read and re-edit over and over until someone stops me. It's hard to let go.

How often do you read? And who is your favorite author?

Not as much as I used to, my eyes are old and tired. I try to get in a book every other month, but find when I'm writing I have a hard time concentrating on their story when mine is rattling around in my head.

I used to say Dean Koontz and Stephen King, but unlike some readers, I 've been trying some new authors. Right now, TL James, Marissa Monteilh and Gwen McFarland are at the top of my list.

Who is your biggest fan?

Aside from my family and friends, it would be hard to name just one, but Bobbie Crawford-McCoy and Sheri Wilkerson have given me two of  my best reviews ever.

What is your favorite food?

I'm a cheesaholic; so anything Italian works for me.

What surprises readers most about your work?

That I weave several genres and sprinkle in a few surprises. I also scare them with my insight into the minds of psychopaths.

Do you write with or without music?

Both, I type to music and listen to 80s R&B to get me in the mood since that's when my stories take place. I just started using speech-to-text software, so if I'm talking, I do it without music.

What mark would you like to leave on the publishing industry?

I just want to be recognized as a good author.

What final impression do you want your work to leave with readers?

Jean is crazy! LOL. No, I'd like readers to say I transported them to another time and place.
